As the industry moves toward more digital operations, Siemens offers advanced CNC hardware automation and design software technology globally. Digitalization is a key focus for the company and is the highlight of its presence at IMTS. Utilizing digital twin technology, new levels of quality and efficiency, production planning, workpiece machining and additive processes and services can all be managed by the largest or smallest shops with the same ease.
Returning to IMTS 2024 to demonstrate this technology is the eRod electric sports vehicle. This year an aluminum wheel rim will be produced in cooperation with DN Solutions utilizing Sinumerik One, the first digital native control system from Siemens, and produced with multi-tasking machining and mill/turn functions. A second demo part being built for the car is the gear housing, using additive manufacturing and subtractive machining. Visitors can witness the innovative step-by-step processes for each demo part in the Siemens booth.
Siemens is debuting its new machine tool digitalization software portfolio, Machinum, to walk visitors through key software elements used to design and machine golf putters. Machinum was introduced last fall in Europe. Visitors can move through the stations and see the putter go through various digital operations from blueprint to the finished part. The company will raffle off putters to visitors throughout the show.
