Study Shows Impact of Metals Industry Jobs
A recent study commissioned by the MSCI shows the economic contributions of the metal industry.

A study commissioned by the Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI) of Rolling Meadows, Illinois, shows that metal production and distribution accounted for more than $552 billion, or more than 3.5 percent, of the U.S. gross domestic product in 2012.
The study, conducted by John Dunham and Associates, found that metal producers and service centers directly and indirectly employ nearly 2.5 million Americans. These workers earn more than $150 billion in wages and benefits. Additionally, members of the industry and their employees pay about $64.5 billion in federal, state and local taxes. According to MSCI, these results indicate that the metal industry holds valuable jobs and positively stimulates the economy.
