SW North America Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Germany-based Schwäbische Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH, recently opened a 40,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in New Hudson, Michigan, with managing directors from Germany, local and county officials, and invited suppliers and customers in attendance.
According to President and CSO James Campbell, the facility will help the company to expand its foothold in the automotive market while increasing its customers in the industrial, aerospace, alternative energy, transportation, consumer products and medical sectors.
President and CEO Mark Reichenbacher added that the company will employ 50 people at the new facility.
SW North America is a designer and manufacturer of high-precision multi-spindle HMCs and other metalworking manufacturing systems, specializing in providing equipment for machining mid- to high-volume, prismatic components using four- and five-axis multi-spindle technologies.
The company previously operated a small office in Canton, Michigan. Company officials stated that expansion for added manufacturing activity at the New Hudson facility is expected to begin as early as 2018.
