Allied Machine Launches Internally Balanced Boring Heads
With the internal self-balancing mechanism, the 465 (464) series of fine boring heads remains stable throughout the tooling process and reportedly achieves tight tolerances and optimal surface finishes.

Allied Machine & Engineering, manufacturer of holemaking and finishing cutting tools for the metal-cutting industry, has expanded its line of Wohlhaupter boring tools with the launch of the of fine boring heads. These internally balanced fine boring heads include a 3ETech digital adjustment as well as analog vernier scale adjustment. According to the company, one 3ETech digital readout can be used on multiple adaptable 3ETech boring head tools, including VarioBore, 538 (537) large diameter cassettes, 465 (464) fine boring heads and custom tooling solutions.
The new 465 (464) fine boring heads reportedly have a full diameter range of 1.968" – 8.070" (50 mm – 205 mm) with the lightweight aluminum Alu-Line boring heads ranging from 2.559" – 8.070" (65.00 mm – 205.00 mm). These boring heads feature the standard Wohlhaupter MVS connection in order to be adaptable. With the digital diameter adjustment located externally rather than internally, maximum coolant pressure can be used, and there is no concern about damaging digital components inside the tool during operation.
According to the company, users in high production settings such as aerospace, automotive and heavy equipment industries can use one 3ETech module for all adaptable heads. With the internal self-balancing mechanism, the tool remains stable throughout the tooling process and reportedly achieves tight tolerances and optimal surface finishes.
