The Armor Rx+ is the latest addition to the company’s line of band saw blades. Featuring a customized tooth form and an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coated edge, this bimetal blade is designed to cut through structures, tubing and rounds of mild carbon steels, with less vibration and noise than standard bimetal blades. The intended result is straight and accurate cuts.
According to the company, in addition to reducing burrs, the tooth design provides a tooth cross section that increases the surface area, thus offering a reinforced cutting surface. This surface then reduces tooth strippage.
A process binds the AlTiN coating to the blade. This coating acts as a defense mechanism against heat buildup while protecting the teeth from wear. The blades also use a high performance backing steel that undergoes preparation to withstand the stresses of cutting applications. The company says this “armor like” coating can impact the number of blade changes necessary as well as the overall cutting speed.
Blade size ranges from 1 ¼” to 2”.
