Creative CNC has upgraded the product development features of its ZW3D 2017 CAD/CAM software. Included are an improved data exchange translator and modeling interactions, new mold functions, and enhanced five-axis milling controls.
The new data exchange translator supports mainstream file formats generated by CAD solutions including Catia V5/6R2016, NX11, Creo 3.0, SolidWorks 2017, SolidEdge ST9 and Inventor 2017. It is designed to enable engineers to maximize data reuse utility and access the latest 3D data.
Modeling interactions are designed to be user-friendly. Users can display independent objects with the Show Only option, saving time in finding, showing, and hiding objects and components. Variables can be locked or hidden, so users can drag and drop to reorder them.
Inch DME mold bases and general standard parts are designed to offer flexibility to moldmakers. General features in the library enable users to measure distance on the form, retain the last parameters and reuse them in the next operation.
The CAM module has added two five-axis controls to z-level and offset 3D operation, including five-axis point control and three-axis to five-axis undercut. It is designed to enable users to mill the back-off shape efficiently and extend five-axis milling capability.
