CNC Software says its Mastercam X5 MU1 maintenance update provides expanded machining flexibility and an increased emphasis on speed and automation.
In milling applications, the software update includes enhanced gouge checking and containment options for 3D high speed tool paths, improved curve five-axis and swarf five-axis cutting, allowing overlap; and faster mill tree-style dialog performance. For routing, user can drag and drop parts from one sheet to another during geometry or toolpath nesting. It also features output block drilling parameters for ease of use on setup sheets and with certain point-to-point routers.
The software also features an enhanced four-axis direct wire path that accommodates a new suite of geometry and outputs for smoother motion. It also enables users to window chain relief cuts in material workpieces.
According to the company, improvements to the CAD tools include updated file translators for ACIS, Catia, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Unigraphics and Rhino; easier surface curve selection and solid layout functions; and an option to import STL files as lines or STL mesh.
