Esab has released version 1.3 of its Columbus CAD/CAM programming and nesting software optimized for plasma, oxy-fuel, laser and waterjet cutting. This version offers features and updates to make programming easier and more efficient, improve material utilization, increase productivity, and streamline workflow.
The new Job Wizard automatically creates NC programs from customer orders. Job Wizard can automatically nest all parts marked for automatic process within a customer’s library on the correct plates as well as assign the best machine to cut the part based on strategy settings. The software can perform these functions automatically within minutes after a customer releases the order, according to Esab.
The software features a simpler, optimized, menu-driven user interface that helps to keep the workspace organized and important functions at the user’s fingertips, the company says. The workspace can be customized by hiding or showing all features in each section and organizing the different menus with dockable windows over more than one monitor.
Other enhancements in this version include a zoom overlay window that shows details without zooming the complete layout; visual control for users to detect parts on a table grid which will tilt after cut; commands that improve cut quality and production time when beveling by optimizing the cutting path; and other improvements that simplify programming and cutting.
