United Grinding introduces its Mikrosa Kronos S 250 centerless grinding machine, which uses angular plunging designed for corundrom and CBN grinding in high precision and mass production. The grinder features a grinding spindle mounted on maintenance-free hybrid roller bearings for peripheral speeds ranging to 150 m/sec. The company’s CBN high-speed technology reduces cycle and setup times.
The grinder is designed for plunge and through grinding of workpieces with diameters ranging from 0.059" to 1.378" (1.5 to 35 mm) with a plunge cut width up to 9.646" (245 mm). For the regulating and grinding wheels, the cross-slide system with digital drives and precision ballscrews promotes setup flexibility, dressing and grinding.
Dressing of the grinding and regulating wheels occurs via four CNC axes in the center of the workpiece plane. The machine has a thermally stable, vibration-dampening Granitan bed, which enables applications ranging from in-feed grinding in single or multiple production to through-feed and oscillation grinding.
The machine’s full enclosure complies with environmental standards, allowing for the use of different cooling media, such as emulsion or grinding oil. The wide-opening sliding doors provide user-friendly access to the grinding center, simplifying machine setups.
