Available from Southwestern Industries, ProtoTrack CNC retrofits are suited for toolroom knee-mill productivity and small-lot work. The company says the easy user interface of the CNC differentiates it from production-oriented CNCs. Retrofits are installed in the customer’s shop in about a day by a factory-trained technician. Ballscrews are installed in the table and saddle and electronic machine tool error calibration and backlash compensation help maintain accuracy. Retrofit kits include motors, NC, hardware, ballscrews, fasteners and cable ties. Custom kits for dozens of knee-mill models are available in either two- or three-axis CNC.
