CNC Training Software Uses Actual NC Programs
Siemens Energy & Automation’s SinuTrain CNC training software is designed to run with Windows XP and is said to be suited for machine tool control-identical simulation training. The software is designed to provide mill and lathe operators with a high degree of practical hands-on experience prior to using the CNCs for the first time, the company says. While using the application, NC programs are developed and simulated using a direct connection to the company’s CAD systems to further speed the program generation protocol.

The software is designed to provide mill and lathe operators with a high degree of practical hands-on experience prior to using the CNCs for the first time, the company says. While using the application, NC programs are developed and simulated using a direct connection to the company’s CAD systems to further speed the program generation protocol. In this way, operators not only learn the control language commands, they also visualize part programs on a PC screen that are identical to the machine’s screen. Additionally, programs generated through the software can then be used by the machine.
The programming language is based on DIN 66025 as well as the company’s proprietary ShopTurn, ShopMill and ManualTurn products and language commands. To facilitate the first training session, the company provides its training keyboard, which features a layout identical to that on the operator panel of the machine tool. The keyboard is connected via a USB interface. Online help is offered with the package, as locations can be linked to the training keyboard and customer CAD systems for rapid program creation.
