Hardinge offers pneumatic and hydraulic collet blocks for milling, drilling, grinding, inspection and assembly applications. The collet blocks use standard collets including 1C, 3C, 5C, 16C, 3J, 22J, 35J and FlexC 42- and 65-mm. Hydraulic and pneumatic accessories are available for building custom configurations, and the company also provides turnkey systems.
The pneumatic collet block systems consist of a sub plate for mounting the collet blocks and a control valve to clamp and unclamp the part. One valve can clamp and unclamp all parts simultaneously or multiple valves can be used to control each block or row of blocks independently.
Hydraulic-operated collet block systems are said to provide a higher clamping force. They can be equipped with a two-position, four-way control valve to clamp and unclamp all parts simultaneously, or a three-position, four-way control for using the manifold with a check valve. Alternatively, multiple valves can be configured to control each block or row of blocks independently. A quick-disconnect system is available as an option.
