Featuring stable construction and a swivel-type indexing table, the compact DMU 65 monoBlcok universal milling center from DMG/Mori Seiki offers a large work area that can accommodate workpieces as large as 840 mm in diameter and weighing as much as 1,800 kg.
Suited for a variety of industries, the modular machine can be customized for a range of applications. Modifications are available for its spindle motors, tables and tool magazines. A special production package includes internal coolant supply and a space-saving chip conveyor.
The machine features a DMG ERGOline control with a 19" screen, and a choice of Siemens Sinumerik 840D or Heidenhain iTNC 530 3D control software. Operators can access the stainless-steel machining compartment through a 1,430-mm-wide door opening, and can load heavier workpieces overhead, via a crane.
Other features include a 1,000 × 650 mm clamping surface on the three-axis version; a mill-turn table ranging to 1,200 rpm; modular spindle design for up to 24,000 rpm and torque of up to 200 Nm; options for a 30-, 60-, 90- or 180-tool magazine; a fast, sword-type toolchanger for chip-to-chip times of 4.9 sec.s; and a production package with a space-optimized chip conveyor towards the rear.
