Available from Cogsdill Tool Products, ZX valve seat pocket tools are designed for machining seat-pocket areas in oil valves, deep bore cavities and for other extended-reach applications. According to the company, the tools have rigid cutter support and in-bore piloting to produce accurate, chatter-free finishes, even in Iconel. In addition to machining internal chamfers, tapers and faces, they are useful in boring operations with severe interruptions as well as applications requiring long reaches through relatively small bores.
The tools are available in single and twin-slide models designed to fit industry-standard flow bore sizes. The twin-slide models have balanced cutting forces to enable higher cutting speeds. In addition, the tools include a damper assembly to minimize chatter in small-diameter bores. The tools accommodate a range of diameters, cartridges and inserts, and they have the ability to upsize using the existing tool body.
The modular design’s extensions feature non-deforming internal bearing surfaces and no threads to avoid locking up. According to the company, the 2-to-1 actuation ratio allows easy programming.
