The NM6 geometry for negative turning inserts are designed for medium steel operations with interrupted cuts. These CVD-coated inserts falls into the toughness category P 20 and P 30 and have corner radii of 0.032", 0.047", 0.063", and 0.093" The NM6 medium range of applications covers a feed rate between 0.016" and 0.024"
and a cutting depth from 0.032" and 0.275".
The NM6 is said to have twice the number of cutting edges than competitive products. Its double-sided technology is said to reduce costs and obtain high process reliability.
