Houghton International now offers Houghto-Size 7048, a sizing lubricant that is formulated for ferrous, powdered (sintered) metal applications containing no chlorine or sulfur additives.

The synthetic, low-VOC, water-dilatable sizing compound is an alternative to chlorinated additive products. It is formulated with a rust inhibitor, providing good corrosion protection and improved tooling and die life, according to the company. Able to be dispersed in water, the product can be welded through (with no toxic effects). The compound may also be applied by brush, flood, drip, roll coat or spray; it can be run at concentrations as low as 20 percent, depending upon the application.
