5th Axis Fixtures’ D-series dovetail fixtures are designed to hold stock as small as 0.06" (1.52 mm) and are compatible with 3-, 4- and 5-axis CNC machines. In five-axis machining, the fixtures enable the cutter to reach all five faces of the workpiece, eliminating additional setups and decreasing second operation cleanup. On three-axis machines, the fixtures’ modular design and small footprint enable multi-part gang fixturing.
A precision locating system enables parts to be roughed on lower-cost machines and relocated for finishing, which speeds shop throughput, the company says. The precision locating pin repeats within 0.001" (0.025 mm).
The line can be mounted in virtually any configuration, the company says. The fixtures use standard, replaceable hardware and are built from 4130 hardened steel.
