Haas Automation’s DT-1 is a high speed drill and tap machine is also capable of milling operations. The machine features a 20" × 16" × 15.5" work cube and a 26" × 15" T-slot table within a compact footprint, the company says. A 15,000-rpm BT30 taper spindle enables tapping speeds ranging to 5,000 rpm. The spindle is coupled directly to the motor for smooth, quiet operation and thermal stability, the company says. A 15-hp vector drive system provides as much as 46 foot-pounds of cutting torque for milling and boring operations.
The machine is equipped with a high-speed, 20-pocket, servodriven toolchanger that swaps tools in 0.8 second. High speed, 2,400-ipm rapids combine with 1G-acceleration rates to shorten cycle times and reduce non-cutting time. The maximum cutting feed rate is 1,200 ipm.
The machine features steeply sloped internal sheet metal for efficient chip removal, the company says. Optional twin chip augers transport chips to the rear of the machine for discharge. Also, a 45-gallon flood coolant system is standard, with options for a programmable coolant nozzle and high-pressure, through-spindle coolant systems.
