Eriez offers its Electro Lift electromagnets in Selecto, bi-polar and rectangular designs for applications such as lifting steel sheets and unloading ships, containers or railcars. The electromagnets are formed by sending electricity through wire coiled around a steel core. The magnets are controlled by regulating the amount of electricity that passes through the coils. They are said to provide safer material handling than other devices and can safely lift and move steel without direct attachment with slings, hooks or cables.
