Hardinge's three 16C emergency collets fill the need for stepped, oddly sized or specially shaped collets. The emergency collets feature 1/16" pilot holes and internal threads for positive stops. According to the company, the collets’ soft faces and small pilot holes enable rapid drilling, boring or stepping out to the exact size required. Pins are supplied with each collet for precise machining.
The emergency collets are offered in standard lengths, such as the 16C E-4 emergency collet, or with extended noses for deeper counterbores and better work clearance. The 16C EN2-4 and the 16C EN1-4 provide 1/2" and 1" straight out extended noses, respectively.
