MAG’s CYCLO CUT Max-Flute end mills machine internal structures in titanium, Inconel and stainless steel components with removal rates ranging to 8"/3 min. with 25 foot-pounds of torque and 9 hp.
 
The company says its end mills’ shallow, radial widths of cut improve tool life by transferring less heat to the cutting tool. This enables higher surface speeds for roughing high-temperature alloys that have traditionally required high torque at low rpms.
 
When used in conjunction with TrueMill software, the end mills maintain a constant angle of engagement. This makes the radial cuts more consistent throughout the tool path, increases material removal rates, decreases cycle time and extends tool life. Although high speed machining typicall calls for light cuts, this approach enables the machine to make heavier cuts at high speeds, the company says. Using the maximum available flute density enables users to maximize feed rates. The end mills are designed with a differential pitch on the tool flutes to break up harmonics and reduce chatter.
