Emuge’s System SG expanding bush design workholding solution is suited for hobbing, shaping and shaving operations for gear production, as well as milling and inspection operations. The design is based on a series of short tapers that expand or contract when acted upon by an axial force. The workholding solution can be used for ID or OD clamping, and the large surface-contact area securely holds almost the entire diameter of the clamping area, the company says.
The expanding bush is also designed to give the workpiece a slight axial movement toward an end stop to add rigidity, accuracy and repeatability. In addition, the system maintains its mechanical reliability while handling higher transferable torque values, the company says.
