Phillips Precision’s Open-Sight fixture plate system provides lean, quick-change workholding for visual inspection. The system is designed to help break inspection bottlenecks in an affordable package.
The system’s docking rails and plates are the vision adaptation of the company’s Loc-N-Load aluminum plates designed for traditional coordinate measuring machines. The fixture plate system is available with 6" and 12" long docking rails, which can be joined end-to-end for added length. On larger machines, docking rails can be installed opposite one another to create more locations and greater stage coverage.
Magnetized, interlocking, scratch-resistant polycarbonate plates are available in sizes of 6" × 6", 6" × 8", 8" × 8" and 8" × 12". Each plate is 1/2" thick and offered with patterns of 1/4-20 or M6 threaded holes to accept Phillips Precision’s Inspection Arsenal trigger-action clamps. Blank plates are also available at a reduced cost, enabling customers to add holes only where needed. Users can dedicate low-cost plates for gaging repeate parts in order to speed up recalibration, which the company says saves time especially on multisensor machines.
