American National Carbide has introduced the AN6120 carbide grade for machining stainless steel, designed to complement its AN6105 grade for high-temperature alloys. The new grade uses the same PVD nano coating technology along with a hard, micro-grain substrate to enable high speed machining of stainless steel with increased productivity. A post-coating treatment is said to ensure optimal chip control while reducing cutting forces. The grade features the company’s Synergy insert geometry and is available in a range of negative and positive rake inserts in standard shapes and sizes.
