The SP6H/SP6N series of S-Max high-feed face mills is said to represent a combination of robust edge strength and high-feed capability that provides a hybrid approach to metalcutting applications. The high-feed capability is made possible by an 80-degree lead angle for an extreme (5x) chip thinning factor. Two insert choices consist of a multi-purpose geometry and a high-shear geometry for titanium and high temperature alloys. The face mills have ramping capability and a DOC as great as 0.072". Each insert provides four cutting edges, an economical advantage over comparable two-edged styles. Medium and high-density cutters are available. Diameters range from 2.0" through 8.0". Coolant or air through the tool is available on certain styles.  Â
