The genius 3 inspection machine with the pilot 3.0 vision system software features a graphical user interface and is capable of measuring virtually any parameter on any type of tool, the company says. Measurements of tool features, including assigning upper and lower tolerances, can be made from either an absolute or incremental reference point from a previous measurement. The pilot software enables the inspection machine to resolve 500x magnifications for visual inspection of tools and provides supporting documentation and inspection reporting. User-management functions control specific rights for individual operators or groups. With five-axis CNC-control and 2D and 3D image processing, the inspection machine is said to measure the entire tool contour and virtually all geometric parameters—even clearance angle, rake angle and core diameter. Standard and optional interfaces are available for tool storage options or direct data transfer to CNC grinding machine controls through corporate networks. The machine also includes remote access features for immediate online support or training.
