The C4T live center is designed to have a longer service life than standard centers. In virtually all applications, it offers an accuracy of ±0.00005" TIR. The center features a proprietary bearing isolator seal that is built to be non-contacting and frictionless, thereby resulting in enhanced endurance under normal use, the company says, explaining that normal use includes demanding service with high horsepower lathes and grinders, and applications involving extreme coolant pressures. The bearing isolator seal is a compound mechanical labyrinth with dual flow paths—the inner section retains and recirculates the bearing lubricant, while the outer path captures outside contamination and expels it through a port.
