Ramping, drilling, grooving, helical interpolation are examples of applications for which Mitsubishi Carbide’s APX end mill and face mill cutters are suited. The multi-functional tools incorporate various features aimed at improving productivity and are suited for cutting materials such as steel, stainless steel and cast iron at high speeds.

High wall accuracy is maintained by the body and customized insert geometry features. The insert rake design achieves low cutting resistance and reduced heat generated in the cut. The tools are also suitable for use in roughing applications, during which a good surface finish is produced, the company says.

Other applications for which the tools are suited are challenging milling operations, including those on low-rigidity machines. The deep hole capabilities are made possible by an offset designed into the tool body.
