Platinum Tooling Technologies Inc.’s Base Mount Tooling (BMT) products, which the company imports from , include standard X- and Z-axis tools, styles such as adjustable tools, speed increasers and internal coolant tools with capabilities up to 140 bar (2,000 psi) are now available in an assortment of standard BMT tooling sizes, including BMT 45, 55, 65, 75 and 85.
All Heimatec BMT tooling is supplied with the company’s U-Tec changing system, which is said to provide flexibility to standard ER collet systems. The output of the tools can be easily changed through the use of adapters including arbors for face mills, Weldon for side lock or ER collet extensions.
The built-in polygon drive connection enables high-power transmission. In addition, the internal collet nut design further enables the cutting tool to be in closer proximity to the bearing, which results in higher rigidity. The cutting tools last longer and yield an improved finish, as a result of this Heimatec design feature, the company says.
All Heimatec BMT tooling is manufactured at the company’s home facility in Germany and is now stocked at Platinum Tooling, located in the Chicago area, which serves the North American machine tool market.
