Siemens PLM Software presents a portfolio that focuses on the workpiece-oriented process chain that extends from initial idea for a product to the finished piece. The chain begins with product development and part program generation with CAD/CAM systems and optimization of the postprocessor and CNC parameters. It extends to online and offline simulations for controlling and optimizing the manufacturing process on the PC.
Virtual Machine Technology is a complete, one-to-one copy of a machine tool on a PC. It is equipped with full functions of the company’s Sinumerik controller as well as machine tool simulation designed to add value for both the end user and machine builder. This technology is said to improve productivity by eliminating the need to use the physical machine for non-production tasks. With next-generation, shop floor NC programming validation and off-machine setup preparation and checking, the software can reduce errors and setup time while transforming how machine tools are built and utilized, the company says.
Optimized CAM-to-CNC connection with advanced post-processing is key to linking the virtual world of engineering design and planning to the real world of the shop floor, the company says. To that end, NX CAM software provides enhanced output to drive advanced functions on the Sinumerik control, providing quality surface finish, advanced tool-axis control and faster machining.
