The NSL series of Schunk’s Vero-S system enables shops to quickly and easily implement a quick-change pallet system with a universal standard. The system consists of 2, 4, 6 or 8 NSE 138 modules ranging from 199 × 399 mm to 399 × 799 mm. The modules are mounted on a 200-mm-center-distance base unit and can be combined to create a larger base plate. They are completely sealed for protection against chips, dust and coolant and are said to require no maintenance. All functional components of the system are constructed of hardened stainless steel.

The system’s dual clamping stroke and integrated turbo function provides retention force ranging to 9,000 lbs per module for increased rigidity and higher cutting forces. The pallet system is locked mechanically via a large spring package. It is self-locking and clamps with a form fit. Holding forces ranging to 16,800 lbs are possible. A pneumatic pressure of 6 bars (85 psi) opens the module.

The system clamps workpieces, pallets, clamping stations, fixtures or tombstones with clamping pins, which are pulled in and locked by the radial aligned clamping slides of the pallet system. A short taper enables exact positioning and radial location is performed via a diamond pin. The system is said to provide a repeat accuracy of at least 5 microns (0.0002").
