Sumitomo Electric Carbide’s PWS shoulder-milling cutting series handles a variety of materials, including steels, stainless steels and cast irons. The mill is tangentially mounted for increased cutting edge strength, and a 17-mm insert enables high material removal. The insert’s serrated design provides stable milling, even in large overhang applications, the company says. A two-step insert array structure is designed to meet deep-cutting requirements, while optimized chipbreaker geometries provide improved edge sharpness and cutting ability. The shoulder mill is available in diameters ranging from 80 to 250 mm, in both coarse and fine-pitch diameters.
