Nagel Precision’s BF-series flexible stone superfinishers are designed to finish inner and outer bearing races. The machines are designed to meet customer specifications and can be equipped with either Siemens or Allen Bradley controls. The ultra-light finishing stone holder is mounted on a servo oscillator and attains speeds as fast as 45 Hz. Coupled servo part drivers are said to reach speeds as fast as 3,000 rpm. Multiple finishing heads can be mounted to achieve a desired quality and output.
Rapid change-over reduces the non-cutting idle time during the machine cycle. The superfinishing heads are mounted on an X and Z axis for automatic positioning and to accommodate part diameter and thickness changes. A part drive system is said to handle a range of part diameters without any change-over.
