Many multi-surface toolpaths consist of small, linear moves within a part’s machining tolerance. Visual marks or faceting can sometimes result when these small linear moves line up and when the tool changes direction in a similar spot on each pass.
The 3D surface toolpath refinement avoids marks and faceting by redistributing the points where the tool changes direction. The refinement is done within whatever machining tolerance is set by the user. The result is a smoother finish that reduces or eliminates the need for hand polishing, the company says.
