The CeramicSpeedMill from Tungaloy is designed for milling heat-resistant superalloys (HRSAs) at elevated feeds and speeds. Two standard ceramic grades are available. TS200 is a universal grade for finishing while TS300 is designed for descaling and other roughing applications. The cutter body is available in a bore (shell mill) style offered in diameters of 63 and 80 mm (2.5" and 3.0").
The TS200 and TS300 grades — made with SiAlON ceramics — have a close-pitch cutter design, enabling milling of nickel-based superalloys at cutting speeds of over 500 m/min. (1,640 sfm), with even greater feed rates possible during HRSA milling, a common aerospace part application.
