Tungaloy's DMH Drill Head Resists Fracture Damage

Tungaloy has added the DMH drill head geometry to its DrillMeister range of exchangeable-head drills. The DMH drill head’s grade AH9130 provides what the company says is a good balance of wear and fracture resistance.
The drill head is suited for applications that involve drilling holes through thin, walled sections of workpieces. In normal circumstances, thin walls tend to spring back on the drill after the drill pierces through and exits the hole. In the process, uncut material shifts and forms exit burrs that impose extra burdens on the drill edge. These problems inflict damage on drill corners, shortening tool life. The DMH drill head’s geometry protects drill corners from fracture damage, according to the company, providing extended tool life and consistent chip control.
DrillMeister’s self-locking interface enables simple and secure drill head exchange without having to remove the drill body from the spindle tool. This reduces setup time by eliminating repetitive presetting, offset, and touch-off measurements.
