Okuma will display its vertical machining center equipped with a Palletace flexible manufacturing system (FMS) for unattended operation. The five-axis VMC is said to deliver accurate five-axis multi-sided machining for operations such as moldmaking. Its rigid double-column structure and low center of gravity in the trunion table enable heavy-duty cutting as well as high-speed finishing. The VMC is equipped with Okuma’s Super-NURBS for high feed rates with fine finishes, reducing the need to hand-polish molds.
When equipped with the Okuma Palletace FMS, the MU-6300V VMC offers increased productivity and efficiency for linear pallet pools and is capable of unattended runs and lights-out machining. According to the company, the pallet changer system reduces non-cutting time caused by setups and change-overs. It is expandable and available in a variety of sizes and configurations, including the Palletace-C complete FMS in a container for Okuma machining centers, and the Palletace-M pallet magazine for one or multiple Okuma machining centers.
