WhizCut’s WhizTwin cutting insert is said to reduce waste material by employing two cutting edges in the front for increased stability and strength. This allows the toolholder to be clamped in a position with a smaller overhang from the toolholder plate, reducing instability and vibrations.
WhizTwin’s design optimizes cutting geometry and relief around and under the cutting edge. The stability of the 1-mm product achieves the same result as a 1.5-mm wide conventional parting off insert, the company says. The narrow insert can reduce production costs while removing less bar material and has a choice of four chip control and cutting rakes to improve performance. The range of parting off/grooving tools includes inserts from 0.5 to 2 mm in width, with an extra-long 0.5-mm option capable of parting off 13-mm bar.
