This video footage and imagery show the chip formation and hole quality resulting from a center-drilling pass in copper with and without M4 Sciences’s “TriboMAM” unit.
For use in center-drilling applications on CNC Swiss-types and other small CNC lathes, TriboMAM uses modulation assisted machining to oscillate the drill through rapid pecks—as many as 1,000 pecks per second.
The technology is described in more detail in the article under “Editor Picks” at right. The companion article also includes video animation.
