Southwestern Industries’ Trak 2OP portable machining center streamlines workflow by bringing an additional spindle to an operator for secondary machining operations. With the mobile unit, secondary operations can be performed nearby within the cycle time of the primary operation, reducing overall cycle and throughput times. According to the company, the machining center improves labor utilization and reduces product planning and scheduling difficulties, as workpieces are completed before they leave the workcenter.
The portable machining center offers a compact 2.5 × 4-ft. footprint and is equipped with an eight-station toolchanger. The machine uses ProtoTrak CNC technology for conversational programming and is also capable of running G code. Programs can be generated at the machine or remotely.
