Chucks And Arbors Designed For Holding Thin-Walled Parts
The Conform-A-Chuck and Conform-A-Arbor workholding solutions are designed to adapt to an out-of-round OD or ID and securely grip that diameter to enable boring, honing, grinding or other machining operations without changing the original free-state shape of the part. These workholding solutions are suited for the machining of thin-walled parts such as automotive smog control air pump rotors, gas turbine parts, thin-wall tubing and cylinder liners for diesel engines. The Conform-A products rely upon a plastic material called Hydra-Fibre.

The series of spring-loaded work support components from Imao includes three styles of work supports, which are said to be ideal for accurate positioning and orientation of workpieces in machining fabrication, assembly, inspection layouts and more. The supports are offered in four sizes of block-type units, five cylinder-style sizes and three miniature sizes. The supports help stabilize workpieces and ensure a secure clamp.

The C-420NC programmable dual column band saw accommodates round material ranging to 16. 5″ in diameter and 16. 5″ × 16.
Read MoreLow-Profile Rotary Table(2)
The GD210LP low-profile rotary table is designed for rigidity, speed, accuracy and repeatability. Stiffness and rigidity are accomplished with large-diameter bearings and a fail-safe clamping system that accommodates parts as heavy as 220 lbs. The table uses as much as 233 foot-pounds (315Nm) of clamping torque to handle off-center drilling, cross-axis milling and other high-force cutting applications.

According to the company, miniature deburring brushes can automate the removal of burrs and the production of an edge radius on small-dameter holes, saving time and money while improving product quality and consistency. Filament choices include carbon steel, stainless steel, brass, nylon and natural to provide the optimum finish on a variety of base materials. The miniature deburring brushes are available in a diamond-abrasive-filled nylon filament.

The GSI CNCT-321 tilt/rotary table is designed to add four- and five-axis productivity at a minimal cost. The table allows manufacturers to machine as many as five sides of a part while minimizing second and third operations and setups. The table also provides excellent clamping torque and indexing accuracy, the company says.

Rohm’s MZMF hybrid chuck is a combination of a three-jaw manual chuck and a round, magnetic support plate. By combining the two technologies, workpieces of various sizes can be evenly and securely clamped and machined from three sides, the company says. Clamping, before turning or grinding operations, is carried out in seconds, minimizing machine downtime.
